Kitchen sink and bridge tap

A 1912 kitchen with its supply lines in the wrong wall. We moved both and set a bridge tap on the new worktop.

Time on site

Three days

The kitchen at the back of this 1912 house had been moved once already, in the seventies, and the plumbing had not moved with it. Hot and cold came up through the floor a yard from the sink and crossed the wall behind the cabinets in galvanised pipe.

What we found

Both supply lines were more rust than bore, and the waste ran uphill for its first foot. That is why the sink had drained slowly for as long as the owners had lived there.

What we did

We ran new copper up inside the outside wall with a shut-off for each line under the sink, re-hung the waste with a proper fall, and set the bridge tap on the new worktop once the joiner had finished.

  • Two new supply lines in copper, lagged where they pass the outside wall

  • New trap and waste with a cleaning eye

  • Bridge tap fitted and pressure tested

Three days, with water back on every evening.
